Summary
This story happened in a small town, Hard Pan, California. It is about a girl name Lucky. Lucky, 10 year-old, is a ward under the guardianship of a Frenchwoman, Brigitte. Lucky's mother had passed away two years ago, and her father does not like kids, so he asked his ex-wife, which is Brigitte, to take care of Lucky. Lucky was afraid that Brigitte might be tired of being her guardian and leave her to go back to French. Lucky always want to find her Higher Power, which she believes that it can help her. There are signals indicating that Brigitte will be left her soon, so Lucky decided to run-away.
Review
I'm not very interest in about Lucky, the main character. I'm interest in the story behind Brigitte, such as what made her come United States, a place she is not familiar with, to take care her ex-husband's daughter. I understand why she ended up adopting Lucky but not understand why she came in the first place. I think the story is a little plain for me. There are not many excitements, except for the snake part. I think readers can learn one thing from this book is that the importance of communication. Many incidents and misunderstanding can be avoided.
